SPIRITUALITY/FAITH

“The time has come for religious leaders to cooperate more effectively in the work of healing wounds, resolving conflicts and pursuing peace. We must be peacemakers, and our communities must be schools of respect and dialogue with those of other ethnic or religious groups, places where we learn to overcome tensions, foster just and peaceful relations between peoples and social groups, and build a better future.” – Pope Francis

MINUTE OF SILENCE AT NOON on 9/21

The observation of a global Noon Minute of Silence/Moment of Peace has grown throughout the world, supported by the United Nations, Rotary International, Mayors for Peace and many NGOs worldwide.

The Minute of Silence/Moment of Peace, is a shared and practical act of peacebuilding in which all individuals, organizations and nations can participate. This minute can be used to meditate, envision a nuclear free world, pray for or send compassion to those impacted by war and violence, or focus on peace in any way that is meaningful for you.

Consider ending your minute, whether individually or in a group, with the Universal Peace Message and Prayer, May Peace Prevail On Earth.

May Peace Prevail On Earth

Reverend Deborah Moldow, Emeritus Representative to the UN for May Peace Prevail On Earth International, speaks about the opportunity of Peace Day:

Plant a peace pole

A Peace Pole is a hand-crafted monument that displays the universal message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in different languages on each of its four or six sides. The Peace Pole Project originated in Japan in 1975. There are now tens of thousands of Peace Poles in over 180 countries all over the world dedicated as monuments to peace. Peace Poles also provide powerful gathering places for communities and organizations. They serve as constant reminders for us to visualize, pray for and or meditate on world peace.

When you plant a Peace Pole in your community, you are linking with people all over the world who have planted Peace Poles in the same spirit of peace.
