The United Nations International Day of Peace, September 21, provides an opportunity for all humanity to come together, in spirit and in action, for greater peace. This global day is observed by hundreds of millions of citizens in cities, towns and villages worldwide. Thousands of NGOs, as well as citizens and governments, organize and engage in diverse peace-related activities such as peace education, the arts, spirituality, the environment, social justice, community, sport, service, and more.
Jordan's Musical Ambassadress Farah Siraj wrote the song "What If" for Peace Day. This song reminds us all to care about others - whether across the city, country or the world - and to remember with compassion those who live in contexts of war, conflict and violence every day.

This year’s theme is a call to action that recognizes our individual and collective responsibility to foster peace. Fostering peace contributes to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals will create a culture of peace for all. Peace Day Philly is the Philadelphia region initiative for the International Day of Peace, September 21. We invite individuals, communities, organizations and civic leaders to use this powerful global platform to build peace on personal, local and global levels. Participate in a way that’s meaningful for you / your organization!
From education to the arts, social justice to sports, health to the environment, neighborhood issues to service for others, there are many ways to participate in Peace Day Philly! We invite you to create a public or private activity related to peace, help to spread the word about Peace Day and/or attend an event Sept. 17 – Sept. 21.
