ARTIST BIOS
SANOVIA GARETT: An Energetic Storyteller that uses music and movement performances, Sanovia instigates an instinctual full-body expression that sparks her audience to infuse more authenticity and joy in their everyday lives. Sanovia leads first as a trauma-informed artist with a MA in Urban Studies (Community Arts) from Eastern University/BuildaBridge International. You can find her on youtube and instagram using her hashtag #catchmeinthelight.

TALI: Talie (Nathalie Cerin) is a Philly based singer-songwriter, born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Her music, a unique blend of Haitian folk music and Soul, delivered through her alto vocals and acoustic guitar, bring a fresh sound to the Philly music scene. She recently released her sophomore project, Solèy Midi (midday sun), a collection of originals and traditional Haitian folk songs.

ALI RICHARDSON: Ali was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, and came to Philadelphia in 2002. Since then, he has shared his musical talents and teaching with thousands of students. From 2004-2012, Ali was co-founder and lead facilitator of the CODA Program, where he developed Hip Hop Jazz Musicology, and in collaboration with others, was able to share his vision through visiting school classrooms, summer camps, and workshops for young people as well as adults. Since then, Ali has continued to offer workshops independently and through the African American Museum, and most recently, as Vice President of Rappers and Rebbes (see “Projects and Partners” for more info!). Ali is a multi-instrumentalist. Although guitar is his “native instrument,” he also plays percussion, bass guitar, piano, and the dijeridoo!

INTERMINABLE – Interminable is a Philly-based Latin alternative fusion project rooted in diasporic connection. Using improvisation and original compositions in Spanish, funky bass lines and driving rock beats, they create spaces of musical conversation to shed light on the links that exist between our cultures.  Combining the traditions of son jarocho (from Mexico), jazz, rock, funk, classical and electronic musics, they bring together the Mexican jarana with the trumpet, the trombone with the drumset, to meet at the crossroads and create a futuristic, improvisatory vision free of the constraints of genre.
